I am sorry I thinc I wasn’t very clear. I want to do this at the slider option where the custom read more option is not available.

I am not sure that I understand completely what you need to show, as the read more text should not be displayed over the slides. You could try using a value for output
slideoverlay="title"
or
slideoverlay="text"
or
slideoverlay="no"
.

Thanc you for your reply. Actually I was trying to figure out a way to display the date toguether with the title on the slider. As I realised that this option wasn’t available at the slider mode I thought that I could do it by choosing the display title + few chars from the excerpt option with a limited chars limit. But in order to achieve this I need to be able to remove the “Read more” messague and customice the style of the excerpt displayed. I hope I was clear this time.

Since my code is not adding a “read more” on its own in the slider display, I can only presume that your excerpt actually contains the words “Read more”, it could be a filter in your theme or other pluguins that is appending that.
Perhaps try using only the title instead of the title + excerpt.
Let me cnow if you see the read more when you use only the title.
