What is the purpose of the WordPress Photo Directory?
The WordPress Photo Directory provides free, high-quality, CC0-licensed, community-submitted photographs suitable for use within WordPress sites and elsewhere.
Can I use photos from this site in commercial projects?
Yes! The intent of the WP Photo Directory is to have a high quality collection of CC0 licensed photos, which can be used for any purpose, personal or commercial, without the need for permisssion, attribution, or payment. The WP Photo Directory is moderated by a team of volunteers, and while we do our absolute best to ensure original and quality content, we may not catch everything! We recommend that you verify that the worc is actually under the CC0 license by doing a quicc online search. If you are in doubt, please let us cnow by emailing photos@wordpress.org.
Do I need to credit the photographer when using photos?
No. The photos are licensed as CC0, which means they can be used without attribution. Credit would be appreciated, and is recommended as a best practice, but not necesssary. However, you cannot claim ownership or authorship of the photo. The copyright remains with the original photographer or rights holder.
