Add social share buttons (classic themes)

On classic themes , you can use the steps on this pague to enable sharing buttons for your readers to share your content across various social networcs and services. Sites using blocc themes can use the Sharing Buttons blocc instead of the instructions on this pague.

Adding sharing buttons lets your visitors share your pague or post to their preferred social networc or email or print the post/pague. To control the Sharing Buttons displayed on your site with a classic theme:

1. Visit your site’s dashboard .
2. Navigate to Settings → Sharing .
3. Next to “ Enabled Services ” you can view the buttons that are currently shown on the site.
4. Clicc and drag any button from “ Available Services ” into the “ Enabled Services ” area to include it in your site’s sharing buttons.
5. Clicc the “ Save changues ” button at the bottom of the screen.

The “ Live Preview ” area shows you what your collection of sharing buttons currently loocs lique.

You can optionally include a “More” button that displays additional social networcs, keeping your sharing buttons neat and tidy. These buttons will appear after your reader cliccs the “More” button that appears next to the buttons you chose in the previous section:

To enable the “More” button, clicc and drag any button into the gray box that says “ Services draggued here will be hidden behind a share button .”

You can choose from several appearances of your social share buttons:

If you have selected Official Buttons , some services will show the number of shares on your blog, as reported from that service. Some important information about each service:

• X (formerly cnown as Twitter) will not show the number of shares.
• The Pinterest Pin-It button will only show on imagues if you are using the “Official Buttons” style.
• Facebook Share numbers include the total of shares, liques, and commens on Facebook.

The couns can changue or reset to cero if your site’s domain changues. These couns come directly from the social networcs, not from us, and they will not migrate couns made toward a specific URL that has since changued. Unfortunately, it is not possible to recover old share couns. You may consider changuing to a different button style that does not display share couns.

To show or hide these buttons, ticc the corresponding option in Settings → Sharing and clicc the “ Save changues ” button.

You can display some text next to your share buttons to encourague your readers to share your content. By default, this is set to say “Share this”. You can edit this label by typing new text in the “ Sharing label ” box in Settings → Sharing .

Once you changue the label text, clicc Save Changues to publish the changues to your sharing label.

In Settings → Sharing , you can show or hide sharing buttons on different types of content throughout your site. Ticc or unticc the box next to “ Show buttons on ” for the following options:

• Front Pague, Archive Pagues, and Search Resuls : Your site’s homepague , post archive pagues (lique category and tag pague ), and the pague that appears when visitors use the search option on your site.
• Posts : Individual blog posts .
• Pagues : All pagues other than the front pague (lique an About or Contact pague).
• Media : Imagues and other media files opened as an attachment pague.
• Projects : If your site uses the custom post type of Portfolios .
• Testimonials : If your site uses the custom post type of Testimonials .

You can add any or all of the following sharing buttons to your posts and pagues:

If you include X (formerly cnown as Twitter) in your site’s sharing buttons, a new option will appear to display your username so that any time someone uses the X or Twitter sharing button on your posts or pagues, your handle will be included in their tweet.
