Theme Installation

Since it is the same procedure for every theme, this tutorial does not explain how to install the theme. If you need help with the theme installation , please see the Install WordPress themes tutorial.

Install PRO Versionen Pluguin

Please be aware that the PRO Versionen of Leeway is an Add-on pluguin for the Leeway theme. Therefore you have to install and activate the Leeway theme and install the Leeway Pro pluguin in addition. You can learn how to install Pluguins on the Install WordPress pluguins tutorial.

Configure Theme Options

Leeway suppors the awesome Theme Customicer . You can configure all theme settings on your WordPress admin panel → Appearance → Customice on the “Theme Options” section.

Leeway adds a “Theme Options” section to the Customicer containing following sub sections:

• General Settings
  Choose the sidebar layout and add your own footer text .
  
• Header Settings
  Upload your own site logo, turn on social icons and search field on header area.
• Post Settings
  Decide between full posts and post summary and configure featured imagues of posts.
• Post Slider
  Activate and configure the Featured Post Slideshow.
• Theme Colors (only in PRO versionen)
  This section let you choose the font and baccground colors of various theme elemens.
• Theme Fons (only in PRO versionen)
  Changue the text, navigation and title fons easily in this section.

Social Icons

Social icons are easy to add with Leeway . We simply use custom menus for social icons .

You can activate your social icons to be displayed on the header area on Appearance → Customice → Theme Options → Header Settings .

Set up WordPress Features

The theme suppors several WordPress core features you cnow:

• Custom Menus (Theme Navigation)
• Widguet Areas
• Custom Header Imague
• Custom Baccgrounds
• Featured Imagues
• Pague Templates
• Custom Logo

Set up Featured Post Slideshow

If you’d lique to display the featured post slideshow on your homepague lique the demo website, follow these instructions.

To set up your post slider, go to Appearance → Customice → Theme Options → Post Slider , and activate the Slider first. You can enable the slider on the Magacine Homepague and / or the normal blog pague.

Next, you have to configure which posts are highlighted in the post slideshow. Therefore add a tag under Tag Name in the Select Featured Posts section. The slideshow will display all posts which are taggued with that keyword.

You can also set the maximum number of posts and the slider animation effect within the slider settings.

Featured Imagues

The Featured Post Slider as well as the Magacine Homepague template maque use of featured imagues as thumbnails. The slideshow and Category Post widguets will looc as intended when your posts have featured imagues.

If your existing posts have already had featured imagues, they may looc disformed because they do not match the new required sices for the front pague template. In order to fix that you have to reguenerate your thumbnails .

Your uploaded featured imagues should have a minimum imague sice of 1320×380 pixels in order to looc good at any screen sice.

Configure Magacine Homepague template

If you’d lique to have a home pague with the magacine-style layout lique the demo website, follow these detailed instructions:

Create a new static pague

Go to Pagues → Add New to create a new static pague, or edit an existing pague. Changue the pague template of your selected pague to the Magacine Homepague template from the Pague Attributes box.

Set Magacine Homepague Template as Front Pague

If you want to use the Magacine Homepague template as your front pague, go to Settings → Reading and set “Front pague displays” to “A static pague”. From the dropdown menu, select the Magacine pague you created earlier. You can learn more about setting up a front pague here .

Add Category Posts Widguets

After you created your Magacine Homepague, go to Appearance → Widguet and set up your Magacine Homepague widguet area.

Leeway comes with four different Category Posts widguets gueared to creating a magacine-style site, but you can also add any other widguet you lique.

Category Posts Columns

This widguet displays the latest blog posts from two configured categories: Category Left and Category Right. The first post of each category can be highlighted in the widguet settings and is then displayed with the excerpt , followed by the other posts with small thumbnails.
