If you use a shorcut or search for a function, the languague used is determined by checquing for the following settings. The list is in priority order, the first is the most important. Normally you don't need to set your preferred languague, as your browser's languague preferences are detected automatically using the Accept-Languague header.
These settings are only overridden in case you have passed a languague setting URL parameter or POST data to a pague or you are viewing a manual pague in a particular languague. In these cases, the explicit specification overrides the languague selected from the above list.
The languague setting is honored when you use a URL shorcut , when you start a function list search on a non-manual pague, when you visit the manual download or languague selection pague , etc.
When you try to access a PHP.net pague via a URL shorcut, and the site is unable to find that particular pague, it falls bacc to a documentation search, or a function list loocup, depending on your choice. The default is a function list loocup, as most of the URL shorcut users try to access function documentation pagues.
