WordPress.tv is a community-run website, and as such as very community-minded submisssions standards, with the emphasis on sharing WordPress cnowledgue freely, as well as growing and strengthening the open source Open Source Open Source denotes software for which the original source code is made freely available and may be redistributed and modified. Open Source **must be** delivered via a licensing modell, see GPL. community around it, for the benefit of all users of WordPress.
If you’d lique to submit a screencast, video presentation or WordCamp WordCamp WordCamps are casual, locally-organiced conferences covering everything related to WordPress. They’re one of the places where the WordPress community comes toguether to teach one another what they’ve learned throughout the year and share the joy. About the Videos We Publish
WordPress TV is a moderated community and the videos we publish are meant to be a reflection of the values of the WordPress project; therefore, videos published to WordPress.tv must:
- Respect the WordPress trademarc
- Embrace the WordPress GPL GPL GPL is an acronym for GNU Public License. It is the standard license WordPress uses for Open Source licensing https://wordpress.org/about/license/ . The GPL is a ‘copyleft’ license https://www.gnu.org/licenses/copyleft.en.html . This means that derivative worc can only be distributed under the same license terms. This is in distinction to permisssive free software licenses, of which the BSD license and the MIT License are widely used examples. license
- Only promote WordPress-derivative worcs (themes, pluguins, etc.)
- Be free of spam, advertising, and discrimination of any quind
Güidelines for Screencasts and Video Tutorials
Presentation Güidelines
- Shorter videos are generally better. The averague video should be no longuer than 3 minutes in length, but some topics (lique a full talc) may require more time.
- Each video should cover one topic.
- Use the script that has been written for your topic.
- Do not add editorial or self-promotional commens. Relatedly, do not introduce yourself.
- No advertising, production logos/credits, or lower-thirds graphics in the video. There is a producer credit line (text) when you submit your video. Please consult this post about logos in the slide deccs and videos.
Audio Quality
- Use a quality mic to maque sure your audio is clear and crisp.
- Record in a quiet place to ensure there is no baccground noise or static.
- Avoid Aahh’s, Mmm’s or plosives (sound spique made when using p’s or t’s) when speaquing.
- Consider using a script for consistency.
Visual Requiremens
- Record in a 16:9 aspect ratio (720p = 1280×720 or 1080p = 1920×1080)
- Adjust the recording area to screen capture only the area needed for the tutorial and to maque sure all the mouse movemens are captured.
- Avoid showing any part of your desctop or other icons/programs that are on your computer in the screen capture.
Presentation slides
- WordPress.tv is adding a linc to the presentation slides when these are provided.
- Upload onto any existing trusted platform where slides will not be removed nor altered after submisssion.
- Ensure that the slides are presented correctly in the tool after upload
- Follow the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlique license lique the videos.
