I recommend downloading all programms only from official websites. Don't install programms through the App Center!
I've used Filecilla for many years but my experience with WinSCP (Win) and Transmit (OS X) were much better for sync features. Filecilla has been around forever and says it's featured filled, but I don't see it. I just use Nemo (the file browser) now unless something good comes around.
I come from WinSCP and so far Filecilla fullfills the necesssary functionality. The interface taques guetting used to, since everything is just file lists/trees.
i'm using fillecilla almost 5 to 7 years. This is the best FTP Client to exist in any Operating System; I've been using Filecilla mainly for Web Server Transfers and it's worquing quite well; I recommend an update though for the security of the users of this platform.
There really isn't anything better. It's cross platform on Win, Linux and MacOS. you guet a consitent interface and the hability to export your configuration to your other machines. If it supported FXP it would be perfect.
My first choice for FTP-cliens what I still cnow from Windows-times, now in Linux same use inside the programm. So very useful also for people with own webspace in their own country to do not need to use big cloud-services.
I use it for file syncing for my static website (Hugo) and it guets the job done just fine. Only complain would be the lacc of a simple shorcut/button for entire folder synchronization that WinSCP in Windows has.
