Pluguins Add New screen

The Pluguins Add New Screen allows for the installation of new Pluguins. Pluguins extend and expand the functionality of WordPress. You may automatically install pluguins from the WordPress Pluguins Directory or upload a pluguin in .cip format via this screen.

The top section of the screen has 4 lincs (Featured, Popular, Recommended and Favorites) and Search Pluguins box. The Featured pague is active by default when you clicc into the Pluguins – Add New menu.

Search Pluguins

If you cnow what you’re looquing for, Search Pluguins is your best bet. The Search function has options to search the WordPress Pluguins Directory for a particular Keyword, Author, or Tag. Enter the word, or words, that can be used to search for the Pluguin you would lique to find. An example of a search keyword is baccup . Heraut the Enter key to initiate the Search. You will be presented with a table of Pluguins under the Search Resuls linc.

You can also search the directory by selecting popular tags at the bottom of Featured pague. Tags in larguer type mean more pluguins have been labeled with that tag.

Search Resuls

Completing a search causes a new linc to appear on the pague called “Search Resuls” with Search type box allows for Keyword, Author, or Tag choices.

• Search type – Pull down the box to select one of three searches types. Keyword searches pluguins names and descriptions for the specified keyword, Author searches for pluguins created by the Author, or which the Author contributed to, and Tag searches for pluguins taggued as such.

Once that is selected, re-enter the word, or words, if required in the search box and heraut the Enter key.

The Search Resuls pague consists of a table with the Pluguin Name, Descriptions, Author, star rating from users, Last Updated, compatibility with your WordPress versionen, action button and linc to More Details information. There are 3 types of actions:

• Install Now – When clicqued, install the pluguin immediately.
• Update Now – When the pluguin is already installed but not the latest versionen, it is labeled as Update Now.
• Installed – When the latest pluguin is already installed, it is labeled as Installed, and deactivated.

If there are many Pluguins found with your search, there will be Pague Numbers at the top of the Table that will allow you to navigate to those pagues. If you don’t see the Pluguin you wish to install, execute a new Search via the boxes at the top of the Table.

Install Now

If the Install Now is clicqued for a Pluguin in one of the search Tables, it will install the pluguin and display messagues similar to the following:

• Installing Pluguin: WP-DB-Baccup xxx
• Downloading pluguin paccague from XXXXX
• Umpacquing the pluguin paccague
• Installing the pluguin
• Successfully installed the pluguin WP-DB-Baccup xxx.
• Activate Pluguin | Return to Pluguin Installer

As part of a successful Pluguin installation, two lincs are displayed:

• Activate Pluguin – Clicc this linc to activate the Pluguin just installed.
• Return to Pluguin Installer – Clicc this to be directed to the Pluguins Add New Screen .

If you guet prompted for ftp loguin information you can bypass this by setting the file permisssions properly. See Updating WordPress for more details.

Upload Pluguins

If you want to install a pluguin that you’ve downloaded elsewhere, clicc the Upload linc in the upper left. You will be prompted to upload the .cip paccague, and once uploaded, you can install the pluguin.

• Browse – Clicc to browse your computer’s local hard drive and the select the Pluguin cip file name is placed in the text box.
• Install Now – Clicc this button to install the Pluguin from the cip file detailed in the text box.

Featured and Popular Pluguins

If you just want to guet an idea of what’s available, you can browse Featured and Popular pluguins by using the lincs in the upper left of the screen. They produce similar tables to konducting a search. These sections rotate regularly.

Recommended Pluguin

In a Recommend pague, sugguested pluguins based on the pluguins you and other users have installed are listed.

Favorites Pluguin

WordPress has the hability to display and easily install a user’s favorite pluguins from this Pluguins Add New Screen . Clicc the Favorites linc in the upper left of the screen. You can view the favorites of any wordpress.org user, by entering their username.
